Accreditation (aka. Registration) includes duties prior to the event like the organization and preparation of the participant identification badges and insertion of contents into the welcome bags. And on accreditation day, registering participants and distribution of welcome bags.
Volunteers will have an orientation meeting at the Coast Hotel the week of April 20th in the evening. Time to be determined.
Event Hosts at both the Coast Hotel and Courtyard Marriott will be responsible for fielding questions from participants regarding restaurants, sight seeing, transportation and managing the sign up for the activities we have planned for participants. Volunteers will have an orientation meeting at each of the hotels the week of April 20th in the evening. Volunteers with french as their second language is desirable. Time to be determined.
Event Hosts at the Northern Sport Centre will be assigned a variety of positions. Duties that need coverage are fielding participant's questions, helping spectators, ticket collection and sales, ushers, security, and general on court up keep during the competition. Volunteers will have an orientation meeting at the venue the week of April 20th in the evening. Time to be determined.
Mature volunteers needed to monitor live streams, display scoring, display sponsor graphics, and play commercials between matches. Previous education or experience is required. Please email your related experience to email@example.com . Required to attend a meeting Sunday, April 26th 6:00-7:00 pm.
Match control consists of a variety of duties. computer data entry, recording of results, preparing match cards, announcement of matches and ensuring event runs on time. Duties assigned will be based on each volunteers experience with badminton competition. French as a second language is desirable for announcement of matches. All interested individuals will be required to attend two meetings:
1. Sunday, April 5th | Connaught Youth Centre | 1491-17th Avenue | 5:30-6:30 pm
2. Sunday, April 26th | Northern Sport Centre | 6:00-7:00 pm
Medal Presentations will be taking place at the Northern Sport Centre on Saturday, May 2nd starting just after the first final match of the day. As finals in each age category and event are completed, the players will need to be ushered to the podium for their presentation. Medals are presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (Consolation Winner) players. We will need help with the setup and organization of the podium area, medals and plaques the night before. Approximately 216 medals will be presented along with the respective plaques. We will need at a minimum five (5) volunteers for this area. Local dignitaries will be presenting and congratulating the players.
A brief meeting will be required for all volunteers to attend:

Minor Officials consists of both line judges and score keepers. We will require a minimum of six (6) score keepers each shift and 24 line judges each shift. Score keepers must know how to score a badminton match.
Line judges will be provided training:

Line judges should be wearing black pants, black socks, black shirt and if possible black shoes (no heels).

Following the training, throughout the rest of April, there will be more opportunities to practice both line judging and score keeping. Details on when and where will be distributed and provided after April 5th.
All score keepers and line judges are required to attend a meeting at the Northern Sports Centre on Saturday, April 25th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.
This volunteer position has both heavy and light duty lifting as well as general set up activities. Those who have competition set up experience is desirable and an asset but not required. Set up starts Friday April 24th evening and ends Sunday April 26th at the Northern Sport Centre.
Venue take down will begin following the majority of the medal presentations. Approximate start time is 4:30 pm and will take until approximately 10:00 pm. There will be general light duty take down as well as heavy lifting required. Volunteers in this position should comment in their sign up if they do NOT want to take on heavy lifting duty.
You will be contacted within 7 days welcoming you to the Team. Assignments and more information will be provided to volunteers in a priority manner.
